I remember the day, August 5, 1992. I was driving back from a meeting in Washington DC, listening to 98 Rock. They came on with a special announcement that U2 was going to perform a rehearsal show in Hershey, PA the next Friday, August 7, and tickets were going on-sale in 10 minutes. I wasn't far from home, rushed home and made the call to get 3 tickets. One for myself, and two for Ray Dizon ans I knew he was a fan. I got bought the tickets, then was able to get in touch with Ray. He was super excited to go.
Granted I would have asked Heather to go, but she was in Ocean City, and out of contact (this was what would happen before cell phones). I only had to wait two days and it was time for the show! Ray drove us there and we made it on-time. They were working out the kinks in the show as they had a couple false starts and repeats, but that's what you do to get it right.
This was the first time that I had been to any kind of major band rehearsal show and it was neat to see them putting the show together. And the setlist evolved between this show and the finished product I would see 9 days later.
