One more Saturday Night... Heather and I went to the Grateful Dead show. She had never been to a Dead show and took in the whole experience. On the way into the stadium there were some street vendor hippies selling jewelry. Heather found a nice little necklace and asked how much? The girl selling it said $5. Heather was about to give her the $5 and the girls said, 'You are suppose to negotiate the price.' Heather said, $4. The seller agreed and gave Heather a dollar back.
The show was great, and A LOT cooler than when I saw them in 1986. Steve Miller was a great opening act, he did the greatest hits so everyone knew the songs. The Dead did a great set also. A lot of familiar songs, and a bunch off of Touch of Gray which I listened to for the summer in 1988. During the Dead show they were passing around joints, I got drug tested regularly at work and could not partake. Heather claimed she didn't either, but wanted to.
Just a not about concerts at RFK Stadium. I had gotten into the rhythm of driving to the New Carrolton Metro station and taking the metro to RFK. It worked fine the 3-4 times I went and this time isn't any different. Keep this in mind going forward.
